NEWS:

ESPN Reports: Dwight Howard hasn't been traded yet but all indications are that the Orlando Magic center will be dealt at some point before the trade deadline and if his final destination ends up being anywhere other than Los Angeles, something went wrong. Somebody somewhere dropped the ball and this city and its future favorite son will suffer for it.

Los Angeles Times Reports: Kobe Bryant can realistically surpass Michael Jordan on scoring list, He is sixth on the list with 27,868 points, trailing Shaquille O'Neal (28,596), Wilt Chamberlain (31,419), Michael Jordan (32,292), Karl Malone (36,928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). So it's only realistic he can pass O'Neal this season and possibly throw a parting shot at his former nemesis and teammate. Even with a compressed 66-game schedule, however, Bryant will likely surpass Chamberlain and Jordan before his contract ends.

Yahoo Sports Reports: Eyeing relief to their woes from beyond the arch, the Lakers have been keeping their sights on Washington Wizards small forward Rashard Lewis. With the help of the new amnesty clause in the soon-to-be-ratified NBA collective bargaining agreement, it's expected that the Wizards will bid farewell to the veteran player. His release could mean the difference between the Lakers struggling from the three-point line this season and them dropping it like it's hot.

ESPN Reports: Andrew Bynum needs to grow. Not just height and muscle wise, but as an individual and person. The issue is going to come up: The Lakers will need to commit one way or another at the end of this year. That means Bynum will need to show them, sooner rather than later, whether he is truly the guy they want to lead this franchise for the next five to 10 years.
